What makes a good first AI pilot?
Repeated
You see enough similar examples to learn whether the change is reliably useful.
Valuable
Improvement changes a real business outcome, not just the novelty of the workflow.
Checkable
A source, rule, rubric, schema, test or capable human can tell whether the output is good.
Reversible
A mistake can be caught, corrected or rolled back before it becomes a large consequence.
Bounded
The pilot can operate with limited data, permissions, authority and integrations.
Do not over-score
The score picks where to investigate. It does not grant permission.
A high score means “worth a closer pilot design,” not “safe to automate.” Data sensitivity, human authority, legal context, security, system permissions and actual failure modes still need to be examined.
The useful outcome is a ranked shortlist and a reasoned first candidate, not false mathematical certainty.
